ADVENTURES

This weekend was a gluttonous fest of all things BBQ and we were right in the middle of it. I personally have a thing for pulled pork Carolina style with coleslaw on top. My favorite family BBQ spot is Ralphs right on the Virginia, North Carolina border. My family has stopped here for more that two decades on our way back from our family reunion in North Carolina. I’m half southern y’all!

The Big Apple BBQ event kicked off this last weekend with some of the best BBQ across America. The pit masters came with their big duallys and BBQ rigs in tow. Every single one of them all seemed like they were one big happy family. The pit masters were so dedicated, they cooked all the way through the night. All I kept hearing was “slow and low is the key to good BBQ”. And they were right! The BBQ served was some of the most juiciest and tenderest meat I have ever had.

I have to give a big shout out to Ubon’s Barbecue of Yazoo, they had wonderful ‘cue and were the nicest people. At one point in the evening they even had Nero(our boxer dog) laying on the ground with one of the guys, eating chicken out of his hand. They gave us BBQ and we gave them some pepper jam and rhubarb strawberry jam, made in NYC. That’s the way the world should work.

Stay tuned for the second part of out BBQ feast later this week.
