Paint Colors

Working with color is one of the real pleasures of owning a historic home. Stony Ford was built before there was electricity so I often sit and transform into a student of dawn and dusk, looking at how color scrapes across the plaster walls or plays off the antique wavy glass. While modern society has become afraid of dark color, I embrace it. It add a senses of richness and soul to an old home. 

The living room is the largest room in the house at 30 x 36 feet. The paint is a soft blue grey with white trim. 

  • Walls:Farrow & Ball Light Blue, Estate Emulsion
  • Inset moulding: painted the same color, high gloss
  • Ceiling: Farrow & Ball Wimborne White, Dead Flat
  • Trim: Farrow & Ball Wimborne White, Estate Eggshell

Living Room

First Floor

The dining room came with the trim on the walls. We peeled three layers of wall paper off before painting.

One of the few rooms in the house we fully gutted, only keeping the sink from the previous design. The full reveal here.

The exterior we complete over time, it's a work in progress. Capitol White looks beautiful in the snow. We live in the North East and have a few months of the year with snow on the ground.
